FOTON is targeting commuter shuttle operators for the View Traveller.

Last week, Foton Philippines invited members of the motoring media for a test drive of the View Traveller van expected to be unveiled at the Foton Big Show on Oct. 25 to 27 at the World Trade Center. Now on its third year, the event will showcase its latest lineup of vehicles and construction equipment, and  has become an annual and exclusive exhibition of Foton’s complete product line of commercial and passenger vehicles as well as heavy equipment that are targeted to empower not only private enterprises but to cater to government and other institutional requirements as well.

The View Traveller is powered with the Cummins ISF 2.8-liter 16-valve turbocharged engine, and it uses a Bosch common rail direct injection system (CRDI) that delivers a maximum of 130 horsepower and 280 Newton-meters of torque. According to Foton Philippines, the engine output is the highest compared to other vans in this class and size.  Currently only available in manual transmission, the van combines a high output engine and high-speed gear ratio to optimize fuel efficiency and load capacity for heavy commercial usage. Cummins is one of the foremost diesel engine producers, and its engine production plant in China has an annual capacity of 400,000 units.

Foton Philippines also claims that it has the widest overall width (5.38 meters) and one of the longest wheelbases in its class (3.11 m). The seats can be configured from a 9-seater to a 15-seater depending on the customer’s choice. Other standard features include halogen headlamps with irradiation height adjustment, fog lamps, power windows, ABS and EBD, individual three-point seat belts, dual front airbags and central locking system.

During the Big Show, Foton will offer various incentive programs like on-the-spot trade show discounts, special trade-in deals and other freebies. Eight major banks will be at the show to offer on-site easy financing and low-interest installment deals.  Other activities include vehicle test drives and seminars that cover technical training, PMS (preventive maintenance service) tips, road safety, responsible driving and UV Express franchise application tips. Foton is targeting commuter shuttle operators for the View Traveller, seeing that the public transport is a major growing segment in the market today.
