New York 2014: Toyota launches restyled 2015 Camry

By Jason K. Ang April 19,2014

Toyota has launched the refreshed and restyled 2015 Camry, in a bid to retain its title as the best-selling car in America. The new car took its bow at the New York International Auto Show.

The new car follows the sportier look embodied in the Vios and Corolla sedans. All body panels have been changed, with only the roof carrying over. Under the skin, Toyota has added more spot welds to enhance rigidity and ride quality, while suspension has been retuned for better handling. The car has grown slightly, by 45mm, and features a wider track, by 10mm. Camry now features LED headlamps and daytime running lights,

The interior has a new instrument panel with 4.2-inch screen between the Optitron gauges, USB outlets, and available wireless charging for selected smart phones. Toyota promises the quietest Camry ever, with improved door seals, thicker carpets, and better aerodynamics.

The Camry will continue to be available with 2.5-liter four-cylinder or 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engines paired with 6-speed automatic transmissions, or, in the USA, a 2.5-liter Atkinson Cycle engine with Hybrid Synergy drive matched to an E-CVT.
