Dodge launches most powerful muscle car, the 707hp Challenger SRT Hellcat

By Jason K. Ang July 10,2014

The muscle car horsepower war has a new king: the Dodge Challenger SRT. Adding turbocharging to the 6.2-liter HemiĀ  V8 engine, dubbed Hellcat, produces 707 hp and a whopping 881 Nm of torque. This is the first factory supercharged Hemi. To make sure all that power is used relatively responsibly, the car comes with two keys, red and black. The red pill, er, key unlocks the full 707 hp and 881 Nm. The black key, for your valet or unruly teenager perhaps, limits the output to 500 hp.

The V8 engine is paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic. The all-new interior is inspired by the classic 1971 Challenger.

The new Hellcat completes the Challenger lineup, which includes the R/T with 5.7-liter Hemi, the 6.4-liter Hemi Challenger Scat Pack, and the SXT with 300 hp.
