Formula One’s only night race promoter Singapore GP Pte. Ltd. (SGP) recently announced that global pop icon Jennifer Lopez will be the headline act of the Padang Stage of this year’s Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, Sept. 21, right after the conclusion of the 7th Grand Prix race in the Lion City.

According to Sarah Martin, director for operations of SGP, every piece of land for the race venue shall again be converted into some form of experience, covering a range of music that is quite wide and recognized. SGP usually spends no less than $5 million for the entertainment extravaganza of the racing spectacle.

She goes on saying that the SGP is not a normal race in the sense of the word. “We want to create a multicentric experience where even the food and beverage on site is not just limited to the hotdog stand,” said Martin.

F1 enthusiasts and J-Lo fans can get access to the postrace performance at the Padang Stage, dubbed as Singapore’s biggest outdoor stage, that is included with any three-day 2014 SGP race ticket, the Sunday single-day Pit Grandstand special ticket or the Sunday single-day Zone 4 Walkabout ticket.

Since 1999, J-Lo has been a global musical powerhouse brand after the release of her first album “On the 6,” and she continues to be so with her newly released and 10th album “A.K.A.” which includes the hits “I Luh Ya Papi” and “First Love.” Among her musical awards and achievements are winning three American Music Awards, three Ascap Pop Music Awards, eight Billboard Latin Music Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards. The two-time Grammy nominee recently became the first woman to receive the lifetime achievement Icon Award at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards for her outstanding contribution to pop music.

Aside from Lopez, other headliners include Mayday (Friday evening) and Robbie Williams (Saturday evening) at the Padang Stage, while Zone 1 Village stage performers include Ziggy Marley (Saturday), Pet Shop Boys (Saturday) and John Legend (Sunday).

Singapore has successfully hosted the only night race in Grand Prix history since 2008 and is Asia’s only street race on the Formula One calendar. On Sept. 22, 2012, Singapore GP Pte. Ltd. announced that it had exercised its option to extend the city’s contract to host a round of the FIA Formula One World Championship for a further five-year period until 2017.
