Anne Curtis unveils ‘World Car of the Year’ Audi A3

Multimedia celebrity and Audi Philippines brand ambassadress Anne Curtis recently presented the all-new, third-generation Audi A3 via an exclusive event at the Audi showroom in Bonifacio Global City.

For a night, the showroom metamorphosed into a colorful party place dubbed “Club Auditorium”—a venue befitting the “princess of all media” and her grand welcome of the Audi A3 sedan.

Audi’s A3 range won the coveted 2014 World Car of the Year honors bestowed by the World Car Awards—a “program initiated by, organized by, and conducted by automotive journalists from all over the world.” In choosing the Audi A3 as the World Car of the Year, 69 top-level automotive journalists from 22 countries examined an initial 24 cars, trimmed the field to 12, then three.

In a release, World Car Awards jurors observed: “(The Audi A3) might borrow styling hints from its bigger brothers, but… still offers classic, chiseled contours and even better interior trim levels. With a superb choice of engines and four body styles, the A3 range packs a hefty premium punch in the small luxury segment. Audi should be complimented for making this A3 ride like no other A3. All the old shimmer over rough surfaces has gone, replaced by a silky smooth ride that approaches limousine quality.”

Audi Philippines head Benedicto Coyiuto, who jointly unveiled the A3 with Curtis, expressed pride at being able to bring the Audi sedan to Manila. “This is a car that changes everything,” he insisted. “The A3 has an efficient turbocharged engine, a luxurious interior, and a beautiful look that all helped it earn the World Car of the Year.”

With the A3’s arrival, competitors in the same price point have reason to worry. “The World Car of the Year Award was simply a confirmation of what we already knew—that Audi has scored a definite homerun with the all-new A3,” Coyiuto averred. “The Ingolstadt-based carmaker has always been known for reliable, fuel-frugal vehicles that push the performance envelope. Indeed, the Audi A3 delivers a consummate blend of sporty handling qualities, dynamic acceleration, low emissions while being a miserly consumer of fuel.
