MMDA asks LTO: Revoke Maserati driver’s license

MANILA, Philippines—The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has asked the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to revoke the driver’s license of businessman Joseph Russel Ingco following an alleged mauling incident involving a traffic constable.

‎In a letter to LTO assistant secretary Alfonso Tan Jr., MMDA assistant general manager for operations Emerson Carlos asked the “immediate revocation” of Ingco’s driver’s license.

“We respectfully request for the immediate revocation of the driver’s license of Joseph Russel Ingco as we believe that Mr. Ingco’s action was a clear and blatant disregard of authority and grave abuse of a privilege of being granted a driver’s license,” the letter read.

“A person with such violent behavior should not be allowed to drive on our roads as he is a danger not only to traffic enforcers but to other motorists as well,” it added.

Ingco, who was driving a blue Maserati Ghibli, allegedly mauled Adriatico after the enforcer took a video of the luxury sports car making an illegal left turn at a Quezon Avenue intersection.

Adriatico filed grave threats, serious physical injuries, robbery and direct assault upon a person in authority against Ingco a day after the Thursday incident.

In a television interview, Ingco vowed to file countercharges against the MMDA enforcer. -With report by Julliane Love De Jesus
