Paul Walker’s dad suing Rodas estate over actor’s cars

paul walker crashFast & Furious star Paul Walker was killed a little over a year ago in a car accident and now his father, Paul William Walker III, is suing the estate of Roger Rodas, the driver of the car in the fatal crash. Walker and Rodas were leaving a charity event in Los Angeles to raise funds for victims of supertyphoon Yolanda/Haiyan, which had earlier devastated parts of the Philippines.

They boarded a $400,000 Porsche Carrera GT supercar, with Rodas behind the wheel. The car, with a stiff, racecar-like suspension ideal for driving on smooth racetracks but not bumpy, uneven public roads, went out of control at high speed and struck a tree, killing both men. (Rodas’ widow later sued Porsche, alleging that faulty parts in the car caused the tragic accident.)

According to the lawsuit, the younger Walker and Rodas owned a number of cars together, and the father wants to make sure that Walker’s family either regains ownership fo the cars, or receives a “proportionate share of any sales proceeds derived from the sale of such vehicles.” The lawsuit is claiming $1.8 million, presumably the proportionate share mentioned.

Walker died without completing the lastest Fast & Furious film, Furious 7, and the production was temporarily suspended. The crash stunned the fans of the immensely popular car-centric movie series. Later on, Walker’s brothers Cody and Caleb filled in for him to complete the movie. Furious 7 opens in April.
