California Superbike SchoolLast year, BMW Motorradd together with Tuason Racing School (TRS) invited 45 hardcore Filipino motorbike riders to take their riding skills to a higher level under a program supervised by the world-renowned California Superbike School (CSS) at the Clark International Speedway in Angeles City.

The riding skills training program was led by Australian coaches Steve Brouggy using various models of high-end superbikes. Participants were given theoretical and on-track training.

The California Superbike School was founded by Keith Code in the United States 33 years ago, and has trained over 150,000 riders around the world, even producing champions in the prestigious MotoGP race events.

In the past, riders from the Philippines had to go to the US, Europe or Australia for this program. Brouggy, who’s a Level 4 (Master) coach, has 18 years of experience with the CSS, and is considered as one of the top 7 most highly-trained instructors in the world.

Brouggy led a team of 5 other Australian instructors in training students who came for varying levels of training ranging from Level 1 to Level 4.

The team taught about throttle control, proper steering techniques, determining reference points on the track, racing lines, correct braking, among others.

There was a mixture of riders from various skill levels ranging from beginners to experienced circuit racers including Philippine superbike champion Raniel Resuello who went for the advanced training module to discover new techniques to gain a competitive edge in superbike championship racing.

There were also rider celebrities present including Ding Dong Dantes and Richard Gutierrez who went there in full gear and leather racing suits to experience the CSS riding school training.

This year’s CSS is slated on Feb. 5 to 7, and according to Gil Balderas of BMW Philippines, one free slot to attend the California Superbike School in the US complete with business class airfare and accommodation will be raffled off to a buyer of a BMW superbike purchased this year.

One raffle slot will be given to each purchase of a BMW S1000 RR superbike and the raffle promo will end on March 31st, 2016.

The CSS was supported by BMW-Motorrad, Cleanfuel, Foilacar, Euro Monkey, C! Magazine, and Tuason Racing School.
