(TCCCI), the exclusive importer and distributor of Chevrolet vehicles and parts in the Philippines, introduces its contender in the subcompact sedan segment – the new Chevrolet Sail. Here’s the news from Chevrolet: First previewed at the 12th edition of the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) last April, the Sail marks Chevrolet Philippines’ entry in the local car-B segment.

The Chevrolet Sail comes with smart and convenient features, dependable power, stylish design, spacious interior, outstanding ride, and a number of safety features.

Exterior: Bold and Composed

chev sail-exterior 10Up front, the new Chevrolet Sail is distinctively a Chevy with the brand’s signature dual-port grille design and the Chevrolet golden rod bowtie, which symbolizes the brand’s 105 years of delivering quality products and services in more than 115 countries. It also sports sweptback headlights, a sculpted hood, and fog lamps. Turning at the side, the subcompact sedan is integrated with sharp character lines that add to its overall bold design.

The top-of-the line variant, 1.5L AT LTZ, sits on a set of 16-inch gunmetal alloy wheels that projects an aggressive attitude. The rear, on the other hand, is equipped with distinctive taillights, which adds a touch of sportiness to the Chevrolet Sail.

The Sail received 107 high-standard painting and five anti-corrosion processes for exterior coating, with nine layers of anti-corrosion coating – ensuring you that the Chevrolet Sail will maintain its luster through the years.

The Sail provides a comfortable and smooth driving experience as it absorbs the dilapidated roads of the country through the McPherson independent suspension at the front, and Torsion Beam non-independent suspension at the back.

The new Sail also comes with a sunroof, which makes it the first model in its class to offer such feature. With the sunroof, you could enjoy the fresh air when driving in the open road – a handy feature especially when you’re on a road trip.

Measuring 4,300 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, and 1,504 mm tall along with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm, the new Chevrolet Sail is a vehicle that is bold and composed.

Powertrain: Decent and Reliable

The new Chevrolet Sail is available in three variants: 1.5L AT LTZ; 1.5L AT LT; and 1.3L MT LT. The 1.5L AT LTZ and the 1.5L AT LT variants are equipped with 1.5L DOHC D-VVT engine that delivers 109 PS at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Both variants are mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with active select. The 1.3L MT LT is powered by 1.3L DOHC VVT engine that puts out 100 PS at 6,000 rpm and 127 Nm at 4,000 rpm and is connected to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Of note, the Sail’s engine is integrated with a timing chain, which is more durable, stronger and could last longer as compared to a timing belt – translating to less maintenance cost.
