Motorists can now settle their payments for traffic violations at over 4,000 Bayad Center branches nationwide, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Friday.

MMDA Chair Emerson Carlos said the agency’s partnership with the Meralco-affiliated company would particularly benefit traffic violators residing in the provinces as this would allow them to pay their fines anytime and anywhere.

“We are making available all the facilities near them to settle the fines immediately and avoid being on the alarm list of government agencies when they are applying for a clearance or renewing their vehicle registration,” Carlos said in a statement.

The initiative came more than a month after the MMDA and Bayad Center signed an agreement enabling the public to settle their payments at over 300 outlets in Metro Manila and around 4,000 authorized partner stores nationwide.

Pedestrians can also go to the outlets to settle payments for violations like littering and jaywalking, as well as motorists caught under the MMDA’s no-contact apprehension policy.

Those who fail to pay fines may not be able to renew their driver’s license or vehicle registration at the Land Transportation Office.
