The driver of a yellow Kia compact car who held off pursuing security personnel in Makati City for over an hour by ramming into their vehicles, leaving four of them injured, has received a subpoena from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

The subpoena sent on Monday ordered Jamie Camille Brojan to attend a hearing today on her possible liability under Republic Act No. 4136 or the “Land Transportation and Traffic Code.”

“Your failure to appear … shall be construed as a waiver of your right to be heard and contravene the allegations made against you, leaving this office to resolve the complaint based on available evidence,” LTO intelligence and investigation division chief Martha Fortades said.

According to Fortades, this may lead to the revocation of Brojan’s license. Depending on the agency’s findings, penalties may also be meted out against the 28-year-old resident of San Juan City.

On Friday afternoon, Brojan was approached by Rockwell security personnel for illegal parking on Amorsolo Drive, Makati City. A chase which lasted for more than an hour ensued after she tried to flee.

Before Brojan was cornered, she hit a barangay service vehicle and several other cars on Kalayaan Avenue. She also struck the motorcycles of her pursuers, leaving four of them injured.

A portion of the incident was captured on video by Kitt Lapeña who was walking on Rockwell Drive at the time of the commotion. The video titled “Adventures of the crazy yellow Kia” posted on Facebook has since been viewed over four million times.

However, charges were not filed against Brojan after she agreed to shoulder the medical expenses of the injured security personnel. She also promised to pay for the damage she caused to all the vehicles she hit. – Jovic Yee
