The Motorcycle of the Year – PH testing Continues

With a successful first day of testing, the Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI) continued testing for the 2017 Motorcycle of the Year – Philippines last October 21st. CAGI is an award-giving organization whose members are composed of journalists and writers from the motoring media, and its members were tasked to evaluate a line-up of 23 motorcycles from different manufacturers and distributors at the sprawling prime property development of Ayala Land Premier in Taguig City, Arca South.

Similar to the first day of testing, the sampling of motorcycles on the second day showcased a wide range of models covering several market categories and price ranges as well. But unlike the first day, testing conditions that day was ideal right from the start.

Kymco was back on the second testing day, with different variants of their Like 125 Italia and Racing King 180. They also brought in their larger displacement scooters this time around, the Exciting 400i and the recently launched AK550. Honda presented an initial five models for testing – the Beat 110, Click 125i, Click 150i, Wave 110 and CB 150 R. Motorstar also returned on the second day of testing and brought their retro motorcycle, the Cafe 400. Relative newcomer into the local motorcycle market is TVS, who brought the following models – the Apache RTR 200 4V, Apache RTR 180, Dazz, Rock Z, Neo, Max Semitrail and Max 4R.

Also present for the day’s testing were iconic brands like Harley-Davidson, Indian and Ural. Representing Harley-Davidson fielded their Street Rod and Street 500 while Indian had their Scout and Scout Sixty on hand for testing. Not to be left out, Russian motorcycle brand Ural brought two units for testing, namely their Patrol and Retro models.

The Motorcycle of the Year – Philippines Test-Fest resumes for third day of testing on November 12, with the awards scheduled towards the end of November.
