50 years of the Dino

July 25,2018

Over 150 Dinos and over 300 Ferraristas from all over the world trekked to Maranello and Ferrari last June 30th celebrating the 50th anniversary of the road debut of the first production car. The V6 engine Dino, considered as one of the world’s biggest selling and beautiful Ferraris, was designed by Enzo Ferrari’s son and namesake of this collectible classic.

Although it was officially launched at the 1966 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Dino was first presented as a prototype a year earlier at the Paris Motor Show in October 1965 and subsequently displayed at the Turin Motor Show. The car’s 50th anniversary should really have been celebrated in 2017, but because of the Ferrari 70th anniversary celebrations, this event was moved a year later, marking the road debut of the first model in March 1968.

The cars arrived in the forecourt of the Maranello Museum and then headed to the Fiorano track, where they cars paraded all together afterwhich all the Dinos were driven into the factory where the customers and guests were given a special tour. At the end of the afternoon each Dino passed through under the arch of the historical entrance on Via Abetone Inferiore.
