Looking for an affordable SUV and don’t mind a manual transmission? This may be your week. Columbian Autocar Corporation, exclusive distributors of Kia automobiles in the Philippines, has announced the availability of more affordable, manual-transmission versions of its Sportage and Sorento SUVs.
Coming in at P988,000 SRP is a new variant of Sportage, the 2.0 LX manual transmission with gasoline engine. The new LX will forego the roof rails and go with a single airbag. Wheels go down to 16-inch, from the 17 and 18-inch of the higher models. Steering wheel loses the leather and audio switches, interior trim is changed to PVC type and the vanity mirror goes without lighting. A good trade-off for the price, we think, especially for a model with an up-to-date body and drivetrain. The gasoline engine still delivers 164hp and 197Nm.
Here are the variants of the Sportage:
2.0 LX M/T 4×2 Gas – P988,000
2.0 EX A/T 4×2 Gas – P1,158,000
2.0 EX A/T 4×4 Gas – P1,258,000
2.4 DLX A/T 4×4 Gas – P1,698,000
The Sorento is now available in LX five-seater variants, starting at P1,090,000 for the manual transmission 4×2 gasoline. The LX gasoline gets a six-speed manual transmission, a 2.4-liter gasoline engine good for 172hp and 225Nm. The 2.2 diesel on the other variants delivers 195hp and 436Nm. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and dual airbags are standard.
Here are the Sorento LX variants:
2.4 LX M/T 4×2 Gas – P1,090,000
2.2 LX M/T 4×2 Diesel – P1,230,000
2.2 LX A/T 4×2 Diesel – P1,330,000
2.2 LX A/T 4×4 Diesel – P1,430,000
