Land Rover has just released information on the all-new Range Rover, calling it the “pinnacle of SUV refinement.” The new Range Rover builds on the expertise of the Jaguar-Land Rover group on lightweight chassis, as it uses a lighter-weight aluminum monocoque, the world’s first SUV to use such a s construction. This saves 420kg compared to the previous model and improves fuel efficiency and cuts emissions as a result. The styling looks quite close that of erstwhile corporate cousin Ford Explorer, as Ford hired the Land Rover styling chief after the two companies parted ways. Although Jaguar-Land Rover is now owned by India’s Tata group, the Range Rover is still British designed and engineered, and built at the company’s new aluminum manufacturing facility in Solihull, UK.
