Toyota is stretching its product life cycle just a little bit longer these days. While other countries have already launched the third-generation Yaris (nee Echo), the second-generation car is receiving a facelift here, which should keep it on the market for at least a couple of years more. The facelift consists of the usual lamps and bumper change, including a rear bumper that has styling similar to the ASEAN Jazz’s faux-aero look. Here’s more from Toyota:
Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) recently unveiled the latest version of the Yaris subcompact hatchback. The Yaris is a driver-oriented vehicle that guarantees a fun driving experience for both the driver and its passengers.
The new Yaris is designed to be at the forefront of innovation and technology. It is powered by a 1.5 liter 1NZ-FE 16 valve DOHC engine with VVT-I. It functions effectively to ensure superior output, cleaner emissions and enhanced fuel economy. With a total of 107bhp /6,000rpm and a maximum torque of 141Nm/4,200rpm, the new Yaris is an agile and nimble vehicle that is fun and easy to drive.
New Exterior changes include a sleeker front mesh grille and newly designed headlamps that give the Yaris an edgier presence on the road. On the other hand, the new front and rear bumper with reflex reflectors is now more aggressive looking as well. Safety and design go hand in hand with signal lamps integrated to the side mirrors. The rear combination lamps are now equipped with LEDs to add to its sporty image.
The interior is revitalized by adapting a sportier leather steering wheel and shift knob with red stitching that adds a sporty feel. For better convenience, it is also equipped with audio controls and an auxiliary connector to boost the fully-integrated audio system.
Together with these modifications, customers will also enjoy the safety and comfort features retained from the previous generation. This includes the center-positioned optitron meters for easy viewing, driver and passenger SRS airbags, and numerous compartment pockets.
Customers can avail of this subcompact vehicle in six colors: Freedom White, Thermalyte, Medium Silver Metallic, Grey Metallic, Xtreme Black and Cosmo Red.
