Ferrari Philippines launches California 30 convertible

December 04,2012

Here’s news from Ferrari: Autostrada Motore Inc., the official importer and distributor of Ferrari cars in the Philippines, recently launched the new Ferrari California 30. The “30” stands for 30 kilos lighter and an increase of 30 horsepower, at 490 hp, from the previous model. Under the California 30 hood is the powerful V8 engine, capable of propelling the car from 0 to 100 kph in 3.8 seconds, as well as producing a maximum torque of 505 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

Despite being lighter, the new Ferrari California 30 retains structural rigidity, thanks to cutting-edge aluminium fabrication techniques used by the Scaglietti Centre of Excellence and the application of an innovative casting process called CORDIS core technology.

“The California 30 is very agile and easy to drive hard. The Ferrari bloodline ensures exceptional performance, as well as the California distinction of comfort and practicality in a Grand Tourer (GT),” said Autostrada Motore Inc’s chairman and president Wellington Soong.

The Ferrari California range was first launched in 2008, along with many Ferrari innovations including front engine placement, direct petrol injection for increased fuel efficiency and high power output, folding metal hardtop, dual-clutch transmission for a smooth driving experience, and multi-link rear suspension which maintains handling to improve the ride.

Design-wise, the Ferrari California 30 showcases sculpted “muscular” flowing lines on its classic-looking chassis and an architectural layout that is both innovative and adaptable. The practical design provides comfortable accommodations for passengers and their luggage. Its bonnet, with the slender air intake vent and side air vents, is reminiscent of the Ferrari Club of America (FCA) Platinum Award winner 1957 Ferrari 250 GT.

Ferrari offers the optional High Emotion Low Emissions (HELE) package for the California 30, which allows for automatic start/stop, allowing the engine to shut off when the car is stopped and to restart when it moves again, and an adaptive transmission which optimizes shifts when driving in the city, saving fuel.

Ferrari is a premium sports car manufacturer with headquarters in Maranello, Italy. The marque is renowned all over the world for its success in racing, particularly Formula One.
