Unioil Petroleum Philippines is offering a full lineup of Euro IV-compliant products ahead of competition and well ahead of the 2016 mandate for clean fuel use.
At the recent launch of Unioil’s Euro IV Gasoline products, the company announced it has three octane variants available: Euro IV Gasoline 91, Euro IV Gasoline 95, and Euro IV Gasoline 97.
Unioil’s Euro IV Gasoline will replace its Quantum gasoline brand. This comes a year after Unioil replaced its Pure Diesel brand with Euro Diesel IV.
Company president Kenneth Pundanera said prices of Unioil’s fuel products remain the same despite the upgrade. “This is so we can encourage consumers to use the cleaner fuel products.”
Choosing the right fuel for a vehicle is very important as this would determine the difference in the car’s performance and the engine’s life span.
Unioil experts say car owners and drivers would do well to use the right type of fuel for a car based on engine design. For example, vehicles manufactured since 2006 would likely have Euro IV-standard engines and should be fueled with a Euro IV-compliant product.
Using lower grade fuel downgrades a car’s performance, technical manager Joselito Alfonso said.
On the brighter side, Euro IV-compliant fuels are compatible even with older engines. Unioil said tests conducted have shown that older engines experience a sort of upgrade when using EuroDiesel IV and Euro IV Gasoline.
Zulueta said that prolonged use of Unioil’s EuroDiesel IV and Euro IV Gasoline products will boost engine performance because of improved cleanliness and fuel efficiency.
Euro IV fuels are formulated to meet European emission standards which require a maximum sulfur content of only 50 parts per million (ppm), which results in much cleaner emissions compared to the use of existing fuels with maximum sulfur content of 500 ppm.
Not only do high-standard fuel products provide car owners and drivers a better driving experience, they also address the need to curb air pollution caused by motor vehicles.
A recent study released by the World Health Organization-International Agency for Research on Cancer said that vehicle emissions, particularly fumes from diesel vehicles, are a major cause of cancer.
Having recognized such danger, many countries in Europe, North America, and Asia have moved to improve emission standards for both diesel and gasoline engines.
Said Unioil general manager Luisita M. Medina-Cue: “We want to cater to a wide variety of users with different types of engines and vehicles. We are making these products readily available because wewant Filipino consumers to be able to choose a more advanced,better-performing and more eco-friendly fuel.”
