Facelifted Lexus IS First Photos

September 01,2010

The Lexus IS300 is for us the most attractive of the Japanese brand’s lineup, combining an elegantly understated (ie, dull) exterior with an entertaining chassis. Now, it’s facelift time for the entry-level Lexus model. Exterior changes are mainly a lights-and-wheels affair. Cars with HID headlamps will also get LED daytime running lights. Taking a page from the BMW and Mercedes play books, Lexus IS will be available in an F-Sport package, taking the looks of its IS F high-performance sister. F-Sport models get a front spoiler with fog lamps, different grille design, a trunklid spoiler, and 18-inch alloys.

In Europe, the biggest change is a new 2.0-liter diesel engine good for 148bhp and 340Nm, replacing the 2.2-liter diesel. The change is meant to benefit European fleet and company-car buyers, who will pay less taxes. For the gasoline-loving rest-of-the-world, the V6 engines maintain the same output, with the benefit of better fuel mileage and lower emissions. Like the diesel, the gasoline engines meet Euro5 emissions standards.

The revised car is set to debut in 2011.
