Maserati has set its sights on a rapidly-moving target: Porsche. The Italian luxury sports car maker has released photos of its all-new Quattroporte sedan, which will debut at the North American International Auto Show in January. The new sedan has to be a hit, if Maserati is to achieve its target of producing 50,000 units per year by 2015. Maserati, in turn, needs to contribute to the Fiat conglomerate’s bottom line, as the bottom has dropped out of the small mass-market cars in Europe, Fiat’s bread and butter.
The Quattroporte will feature distinctive styling, large dimensions paired with sports-car agility. Its main selling point will undoubtedly be the Ferrari V8 under its hood. The Quattroporte will be assembled in Italy and in another site.

Inside, the design of the Quattroporte aims at essentiality, stressing the simplicity of lines and the full functionality of the on-board instrumentation. Functional elements are blended with soft quality surfaces made of prestigious woods and refined leathers.
