Toyota Motor Philippines has confirmed that the RAV4 will be launched locally in January 2013, barely two months after its debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The all-new crossover will follow closely the U.S. specifications. Key ingredients are: a 2.5-liter dohc inline-four 16-valve engine good for 174 bhp and 233 Nm. The only transmission choice will be a six-speed automatic with sequential mode. Suspension will be MacPherson struts up front with double wishbones at the rear, and disc brakes will be at all four corners. Tires are 225/65 R 17.
Seating will be for five. There will be three variants: 4×2, 4×2 full option, and 4×4. The 4×2 will have some poverty-spec equipment such as fabric seats, vinyl shift lever, urethane steering wheel, four-speaker system (versus six), and will not even come with a rear package tray/tonneau cover. It will also get dual airbags. Only the 4×4 will get the full airbag package include curtain and side airbags.
Colors will be white pearl, silver metallic, red mica metallic, bronze mica metallic, and black. More details to follow in the coming weeks.
