Honda Philippines starts selling CR-Z sport hybrid

April 25,2013

The Philippine hybrid scene has just become more intriguing. Here’s news from Honda: Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda’s automobile business unit in the Philippines announces today that the All New CR-Z, a sport hybrid coupéwill be available for retail in 2013.

CR-Z stands for “Compact Renaissance Zero”, which represents Honda’s commitment to go back to the point of origin (zero) to take on the challenge to create a new compact car without being bound by the values of traditional coupés. Developed with the concept of “More Hybrid Sports”, the All New CR-Z was created to fuse two ideas: Sport and Ecology.

In addition, based on Honda’s passion to broaden the potential for a hybrid vehicle and enable customers to experience a new kind of excitement with all of their senses, the CR-Z was developed offering three core values – Emotional (emotional look and feel), Exciting (joy of driving) and Smart (environmentally responsible, useful and liberating).

The All New CR-Z uses a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine as the main source of power with an electric motor, Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA). The efficient combination of these two enables drivers to have a responsive and exciting driving experience; thus achieving excellent fun-to-drive performance and exceptional fuel efficiency.

To make the goal “to balance fun and eco factors” easier to understand, Honda introduced the “Three-mode Drive System”, which allows drivers to freely shift toSPORT, NORMAL or ECON modes for different driving style and/or driving situations. The system applies integrated control over the engine’s Drive by Wire control, motor assist, CVT shift control, and air conditioner. Honda further pushes the envelope as the All New CR-Z now has an additional selection – the Plus-Sport System or S+ Buttonoption that enables more responsive acceleration to achieve additional fun and excitement while driving.

The All New CR-Z will come in Manual transmission and Continuously Variable transmission (CVT with paddle shifters) options and will be available in 3 variants. Aside from the standard model, HCPI will also offer the All New CR-Z Modulo1 variant (with Modulo aero kit) and the CR-Z MUGEN2 variant which will be equipped not only with aero kits but also with exhaust system and alloy wheels. The customers can choose from six exhilarating colors: White Pearl, Crystal Black, Polished Metal, Milano Red, and exclusive colors for the CR-Z the Turquoise Blueand Cosmo Flash Violet.

“With two transmissions, three variants, and six colors or a total of 36 combinations to choose from, we are positive that the All New CR-Z will bring a more personal Honda spirit of mobility. Along with other Honda models available, the All New CR-Z is bound to make every journey enjoyable and fun for both driver and passenger,” Natsume said.

The All New CR-Z will have the following prices:
Standard (Manual Transmission) – Php 1,400,000
