KIA strikes stronger foothold in football with Azkals and Global FC
Kia proves once again that it is a dynamic force in the automotive world through a reinstated partnership with the national football team, the Philippine Azkals. For more than three years now, Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC), exclusive distributor of Kia Motors in the Philippines, has been committed to the growth and promotion of the sport of football.
PAIRING UP WITH THE NATIONAL TEAM
The contract signing held last Aug. 29, 2013 was attended by Mr. Dodie Gañac and Ms. Precious Casao of CAC and Mr. Dan Palami, Philippine Azkals and Global FC Team Manager, and Ms. Jopet Concio representing both football teams.
CAC Vice President for Marketing Mr. Dodie Gañac lauds this venture with the Philippine Azkals as “another step for Kia to tap the young and the young-at-heart.” He adds, “the Azkals represent determination, excellence and inspiration and Kia is very proud to stand behind this team in elevating these positive values. We at Kia and CAC see the value of sports in character- and nation- building and through this bond, we hope to bring nothing but optimism and encouragement to people.”
As Major Team Co-Sponsor of the Philippine Azkals, CAC and Kia will foster events and activities revolving around the further development and endorsement of the Philippine Azkals and the Philippine football scene. In addition, Kia will also be the Official Transport Provider of the Philippine Azkals.
Global FC joins Kia’s football-related initiatives
Kia also extends its support to the Global Football Club, more popularly known as Global FC. Global FC has always been a strong contender in national football tournaments and continues to field top finishes like the 2012 United Football League and 2011 PFF National Men’s Championships. Upon contract signing, Kia will now be a Major Sponsor and Transport Provider of the team.
Kicking off the renewed collaboration, the Philippine Azkals and Global FC each played a role for a successful Kia Cup 2013. Aside from matches among various school clubs and teams from the Metro, the Kia Cup 2013 also presented a kiddie soccer clinic. At the helm of the afternoon clinic were Philippine Azkals team captain, Chieffy Caligdong, players James and Phil Younghusband, Misagh Bahadoran, Carlie de Murga and OJ Porteria. Global FC also participated in the event and made waves as they bagged the Championship in the Men’s Open division.
Kia’s partnership with the Philippine Azkals and Global FC truly becomes another milestone on the road to an enriching football experience in the Philippines. As the brand with the power to surprise, expect CAC and Kia to mount significant undertakings for the sport of football and for these two talented clubs.
