Fiesta stars in Ken Block’s Gymkhana Three Part 2

September 19,2010

Ford’s new Fiesta has one unique customer in Ken Block. Formerly of Subaru extreme driving fame, the rally driver / shoe designer has switched to Ford’s new subcompact for his WRC campaign.
Now that Ken has a custom-built 650-bhp Fiesta at his disposal, what can he do? Go out and play, of course. The result is a new video, Block’s Gymkhana THREE Part 2. Filmed at the Autodrome de Montlhéry in France, the film shows the racing Fiesta drifting, donuting, and clawing its way around corners both flat and inclined.

The car was built by Olsbergs Motorsport Evolution and carries Block’s trademark livery, albeit with some alterations. The car carries the number 43, not coincidentally the number of “The King”, Richard Petty.

The front has a new carbon splitter, and the car has wider fender flares. The car is based on a production Fiesta, if you can call nearly 900 Nm of torque anything close to production. 0-100 km/h takes a shade over 2 seconds.

“The great thing about Gymkhana is that it is amazingly fun to do,” said Block. “It’s taking some of the best parts of rally racing and removing a bit of the stress that is involved with competing, allowing me to just go out and play in an amazing car. Having done two videos before I knew exactly what I wanted from the car as we built it and I can say that the Fiesta is the best Gymkhana car yet.”
