New D-Max reaches most parts of Mindanao

By Charles Buban October 15,2013

Introduced just this September to Metro Manila and Luzon markets, the all-new D-Max pickup has officially arrived in Mindanao. In an event  held at The Atrium of Limketkai Mall in Cagayan de Oro City, the all-new D-Max was unveiled by Isuzu Philippines Corp. president Nobuo Izumina and Isuzu Cagayan de Oro president Frank Rolida.

“We formally launch our latest product here in Cagayan de Oro as this market has always been one of our most important. In fact, in our latest sales report, more than half of our sales here in Mindanao are from Cagayan de Oro City,”  Izumina said.

Izumina explained that the arrival of the all-new D-Max in the Mindanao market addresses the region’s need for a vehicle that can serve various business functions and agriculture-related requirements, as well as attend to a set of consumers in the region who indulge in weekend recreational pursuits like mountain trekking.

Longer, wider and taller, the all-new Isuzu D-Max is now sleeker and tougher than ever. “The new pickup is built around three design philosophies: perfect proportion, aggressive form and innovative structure. Externally, it is designed with a fluid appearance to ensure visual harmony without losing the D-Max’s trademark sporty and powerful styling,”  Izumina said.

The all-new Isuzu D-Max comes in seven variants: double cab automatic LS 4×4 (P1.457 million), manual LS 4×4 (P1.398 million), automatic LS 4×2 (P1.196 million), manual LT 4×4 (P1.153 million), manual LS 4×2 (P1.144 million), manual LT 4×2 (P857,000), and manual single cab and chassis 4×2 (P697,000).

Isuzu dealerships in Mindanao  are located in cities of Cagayan de Oro, Davao and General Santos.

Highest ground clearance

To tackle Mindanao’s varied terrain and road condition, the all-new Isuzu D-Max boasts of one of the highest ground clearances among pickups with a 23.5-cm height for the LS 4×4, and 22.5 cm for the LT 4×4 and LS 4×2.

This makes the pickup suitable over unpaved roads and flooded situations. Supplementing its suspension system are new, bigger wheels that do not compromise the pickup’s riding comfort while at the same time provide a stylish appearance. The LS 4×4 is equipped with 225/65 R17 tires,  while the LS 4×2 and LT have 245/70 R16 tires.

Powering the all-new D-Max  (LS and LT 4×4 variants) is Isuzu’s tried-and-tested 3-liter common rail direct injection with turbocharger and intercooler diesel engine that generates 144 horsepower and 294 Newton-meters. The base variant LT 4×2 and single cab are equipped with Isuzu’s new (4JK1-TC) 2.5-liter common rail direct injection with turbocharger and intercooler diesel engine.
