Honda recently scrambled to improve its US Civic after the sedan received a lukewarm welcome from buyers and the press, and after missing out on the coveted “recommended” rating from influential publication Consumer Reports. Now it’s set to unveil the coupe version at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. Honda is aiming to get some of its tuner mojo back, rightfully citing the Civic as one of the vehicles that sparked the original ‘import tuner’ movement of the late 1990s and early 1990s. Now the Japanese company is trying to position the Civic, particularly the Coupe, as a ‘ platform of choice for those seeking personalization potential and built-in performance coupled with unmatched reliability.’ Multiple variations on the tuner theme will be displayed at SEMA.
The Honda booth will also feature the 212 kph lawn mower developed by Honda UK.
