Big bike rider killed in SLEx accident

October 28,2013

CAMP VICENTE LIM—A motorbiking enthusiast was killed after his motorbike slammed into another bike driven by a fellow motor biker as they were along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) in Sta. Rosa City before noon on Sunday.

Senior Police Officer 1 Henry Loriño of the Laguna police highway patrol unit identified the fatality as John Paul Jose.

Jose and eight other motorbike riders came from Tagaytay City in Cavite and were headed back to Parañaque City when the accident occurred on Kilometer 39 at 11:30 a.m., said Loriño.

According to Loriño, Jose was tailing the motorbike of his companion, Hubert Soriano, when the latter suddenly slowed down.

Jose’s bike hit the rear of Soriano’s motorcycle, causing a strong impact that sent Jose landing some 100 meters away, based on the skid marks found on the road, he said.

Jose’s body was found near some metal railings on the center island where he might have hit his head  when he went flying off his bike. His helmet was crushed, Loriño said.

Jose was rushed to Santa Rosa Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival while Soriano, who also landed near the center island, suffered minor injuries.

The victim’s family refused to file charges against Soriano, Loriño said. Maricar Cinco, Inquirer Southern Luzon
