At the turn over ceremony in the Music Room of Malacanang Palace were (L-R) Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) General Manager Victor Mhun and Regional Director Hoo-Keun Kim; Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) President & CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, Chairman Edward S. Go, and Chairman Emeritus Richard L. Lee; HE President Benigno C. Aquino III; Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo; and Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Parisya Taradji.

Korean auto giant, Hyundai Motor Group and its Philippine distributor Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) provided a total of Php50 million (M) in financial assistance to support disaster recovery efforts in the Philippines.

HARI donated Php25M to aid the national government’s program of relief, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of the communities in the Visayas which were devastated by super-howler Yolanda.

The donation, extended through HARI Foundation, Inc. (HFI), was formally turned over by HARI Chairman Emeritus Richard L. Lee, Chairman Edward S. Go, President & CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, and HMC Asia & Pacific Regional Headquarters Head Hoo-Keun Kim and General Manager Victor Mhun  to HE President Benigno C. Aquino III, Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory L. Domingo, and Department of Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Parisya Taradji at Malacañang Palace last November 15, 2013. This financial aid signifies Hyundai’s solidarity with the Filipino nation to achieve in the most effective, consistent, and wide-impact manner the full and swift recovery of typhoon-hit Leyte, Iloilo, and Cebu.

In addition, the 41 Hyundai dealerships all over the country are setting up Sagip Boxes for the contributions of their customers and the general public to help sustain the entire nation’s efforts to bring help and hope to the ravaged provinces.

According to HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, “We empathize with our countrymen in these most trying of times, with a sincere hope and prayer that we will rise above all these and shine with pride and honor as a Filipino winning against all odds. We are confident in the government’s resolve to facilitate enabling measures to fast track recovery.”

HARI appreciates and commends the depth and magnitude of international response and cooperation—from bilateral and multilateral donors, NGOs, international corporations, particularly those with local presence; and highlights the aid of $ US600,000 (equivalent to P25M) extended by Hyundai Motor Group (Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation) to the Philippine Red Cross. This donation demonstrates unprecedented global and regional concern for the effects and outcome of Typhoon Yolanda on the Philippines and its people.

Hyundai Motor Group (Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation), in solidarity with worldwide efforts at bringing help and hope to the Visayan provinces devastated by super typhoon Yolanda, each donated $ US 300,000 to the Philippine Red Cross.
