The Paris Motor Show saw the debut of a delicious-looking limited-edition Ferrari, the SA Aperta roadster. The SA refers to Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina, as this car is also a celebration of Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary. Aperta is “open” in Italian, appropriate for the roadster.
The SA Aperta is derived from the front-engined 599, and features a completely open top, with only a light cover for use in extremely wet weather. Or, you can just floor it, and let the 610 bhp and the aero effect take care of it for you. The windshield is cut lower than the 599’s and integrates nicely with the rear rollbars. Ferrari claims chassis stiffness is comparable to a closed berlinetta’s. Weight gain is also “negligible,” despite the inevitable chassis stiffening members that will make up for the open top.
Killer feature: It’s the 599, in a sexier package
Neat touch: Glorious Enzo-derived V12
Why we can’t have it: 80 units were built; 80 have been sold.
