German luxury carmaker Audi continues its winning ways as several of its cars snatched major awards in the recently concluded German Design Award 2014. While the R8 has triumphed in the “Transportation and Public Space” category, the A4 received a “Special Mention.”
The German Design Award, staged by the German Design Council, recognizes products and projects that are of pioneering importance in the German and international design-worlds.
The awards ceremony will coincide with the international consumer goods show “Ambiente” in February 2014.
It’s interesting to note that another Audi, the A8, won the British “T3 Gadget Award.”
The A8 won the “T3 Gadget Award” in the “Car of the Year” category.
The British magazine T3 gives this award to innovative products once a year. The Audi A8 was commended as an “outstanding example of innovation and design.”
In another award, the A6 Avant won the reader poll for “Family Car of the Year 2013.”
In 2013, the magazines AutoStraßenverkehr and ELTERN voted the Audi A6 Avant “Family Car of the Year” in the “35,000 Euros to 40,000 Euros category” for the second time. The Audi Q5 came second in the same price category.
Around 35,000 readers of both magazines cast their votes to choose their favorites in seven categories. A total of four Audi models earned Top 3 placements.
Markus Siebrecht, head of marketing Germany at Audi AG, took receipt of the award for the A6 Avant.
“Executive Stationwagon of 2013”: top placings for Audi A4 Avant and A6 Avant, another double win for Audi in the reader poll of the trade publications handwerk magazin and Deutsche Handwerks Zeitung.
The A4 Avant won in the “Midsize” category, while the A6 Avant sufficiently impressed around 1,000 voting readers to top the “Full Size” category as “Executive Stationwagon of 2013.”
The award highlights the success of the two models with the four rings: Eight months into the year, the Audi A4 and A6 were the most popular automobiles in their category in Germany among commercial customers.
Armin Villinger, head of sales key accounts and direct customers at Audi AG, was presented with the awards at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show by VDA chair Matthias Wissmann and publisher Alexander Holzmann.
