The Honda Jazz isn’t exactly a vehicle crying out for hybrid-ization, knowing that it’s already pretty fuel efficient. Still, there’s no such thing as too efficient, so Honda has launched the Jazz hybrid at the Paris Motor Show.
The Jazz is a parallel hybrid, meaning gasoline and electric power can simultaneously propel the car. It’s built with Honda’s clever Integrated Motor Assist, a small electric motor integrated into the flywheel. The gasoline engine is the familiar 1.3-liter iVTEC power plant. The result is just 104 g/km of CO2 it claimed to be the lowest in the B-segment. Other emissions are also reduced. The fuel mileage improvement is as yet unspecified.
Battery and power control unit are hidden under the cargo floor, taking up none of the passenger and cargo space. The ULT seats are also retained. Changes to the cabin are subtle, with a darker color scheme, and instrument lighting that changes color with fuel economy.
Exteior changes include revised head- and taillights, new grille and bumpers, and an available screaming Lime Green metallic paint.
