Toyota poised for another big year as sales surge
When big numbers are needed, the local auto industry could always rely on Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) to deliver sales that no other brand would be able to match.
As of November, the company already experienced growth that is 17 percent better than the one posted from January to November of 2012.
Moreover, the 68,611 units TMP sold as of the end of November already surpassed the company’s 2012 sales volume by over 3,000 units.
“I am confident that we will end the year with an even stronger sales position with the expected favorable market demand this holiday season. I would also like to thank our customers for the trust and loyalty they have shown in our products. Their confidence in our brand inspires us to keep moving forward and continuously find ways to serve them better,” said TMP president Michinobu Sugata in a statement.
Over 40 percent
Interestingly, this same figure (68,611) is already almost 42 percent of all the vehicles sold in the country from January to November. According to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc., its members already sold a total of 164,098 units.
In November alone, TMP sold 7,458 units, a figure that beats the company’s record-breaking sales of 7,476 units attained in October. TMP sold a total of 2,715 units in the passenger car segment and 4,743 units in the commercial vehicle segment.
This phenomenal sales volume, according to TMP, was spearheaded by the all-new Toyota Vios which continues to break records.
Sales in November marked the third consecutive month that the all-new Vios has broken record as 2,329 units were sold last month.
With the all-new Vios expected to sell at least 2,000 a month, TMP is spending P2 billion to increase the capacity of its Sta. Rosa (Laguna) plant, in charge of assembling the third-generation Vios.
Sugata, in fact, is confident that production in 2013 will hit 36,300 units, up 19 percent from 30,500 last year.
With such strong performance from the Vios as well as in TMP’s models in other segments, the Japanese automaker is poised to achieve its 12th consecutive Triple Crown by end of this year.
