Hyundai goes high-performance, Namyang style

Concurrent with the launch of its i20 World Rally Championship race car, Hyundai also launched its new “N” high-performance branding, for race cars like the i20 WRC and future road cars. “N” stands for Namyang, Hyundai’s R&D Centre that has collaborated with Hyundai Motorsport on the development of the i20 WRC. Hyundai says that Namyang R&D Centre is at the heart of the technological innovation and development that serves as the driving force behind Hyundai’s growth as a global brand.

The “N” logo on the i20 WRC is a stylized, wavy capital N, rendered in black with light blue shadow and red upward stripe.

Many carmakers carry a high-performance sub-brand, from BWM’s M division to Lexus’ F cars. Hyundai will be the latest to use the motorsports angle to impart a halo effect on the rest of its lineup, as well as sell pricier, higher-performance cars and parts to its customers.
