Going north? Prepare for heavy traffic or take alternate routes

MANILA, Philippines—As people continue their holiday exodus for the New Year, the Department of Public Works and Highways warned motorists of heavy traffic going to northern Luzon, according to the Official Gazette.

Effective December 27, 2013 until January 6, 2014, the Pangasinan 3rd District Engineering Office will be doing road work that will affect the Manila North Road (MNR), the Tarlac-Pangasinan (Carmen) boundary to Pangasinan-La Union (Sison) section.

DPWH advised motorists to use the following alternate routes especially during peak hours from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.:

Carmen-Rosales-Sta. Maria-Asingan-Binalonan (Magilas trail)

Binalonan-Laoac-Pozorrubio

Urdaneta-Manaoag-San Jacinto-San Fabian-Damortis Junction, La Union (for light vehicles only)

Binalonan-Laoac-Manaoag-San Jacinto-Damortis Junction, La Union (for light vehicles only)

Manila North Road Junction-Guiling-Rosales Poblacion (Provincial Road) (except long articulated trucks)
