Ford Group Philippines posted record high sales of 13,285 units in 2013, largely fueled by the robust sales performance of its Ranger model.
Vehicle sales in 2013 reflected a 41-percent surge for Ford, considered the fastest growing automotive firm in the country, compared to the 9,398 units that the company sold in 2012.
“We continued to build on our momentum throughout the year—making further progress on our One Ford plan—allowing us to finish the year in record fashion,” said Kay Hart, managing director of Ford Philippines.
“With each all-new global Ford vehicle that we introduce, we are connecting with new customers in so many exciting and meaningful ways, which is helping to further drive the strength and appeal of our brand.”
According to Hart, Ford Philippines is committed in “going further” in 2014 and make the Ford brand even more accessible to our customers across the Philippines through the upcoming launches of even more segment-leading global Ford vehicles this year, and the continued aggressive expansion of the company’s nationwide dealer network.
In 2013, Ford opened five new dealerships in key locations across the Philippines, bringing its total to 33 locations. For 2014, Ford targeted to further grow its dealer network to 37 locations, which will include new, key provincial areas.
The all-new Ranger was Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines in 2013 with full-year sales soaring by 237 percent year-on-year to 4,691 units.
Ford has seen strong demand for both automatic and manual variants of the all-new Ranger, highlighting the pickup’s rugged and versatile appeal to Filipino consumers, the company said.
The Ford Everest SUV finished the year strong with total sales for 2013 reaching 2, 815 units, followed closely by the all-new Ford Fiesta, of which 2,611 units were sold.
The Ford Explorer also delivered its best full-year performance in 2013 with sales rising 58 percent year-on-year to a total of 1,035 units, while the sales of Ford Focus similarly rose by 68 percent in 2013 1,046 units.
Full-year sales of the iconic Ford Mustang topped its 2012 performance to turn in its best year at 194 units. Amy R. Remo
