In a rush? Don’t speed, says this heartbreaking ad from New Zealand
Whenever we’re behind the wheel, we like to think that we’re in full control. Whether we’re tootling to the grocery or barreling down the highway, we seldom consider that everything could go haywire in a fraction of a second. Going fast in a competent car feels good, after all. But not only could we make an error, many other drivers are on the road, too. They, too, can make mistakes. It’s better to drive within safe speeds, allowing for mistakes.
This is underscored by a heartbreaking public-service advertisement from the New Zealand Transport Agency. It reminds us that we are not in full control of our driving environment, and must give room for error. It could mean the difference between a near miss and a fatal accident.
