How’s this for a Christmas treat? Chevrolet will be launching the new Camaro Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. The car will be in showrooms in February 2011, for a base price of—get this—$30,000. Camaro Convertible, or Japanese/Korean midsize sedan—tough choice. That’s all theoretical, of course, as hardly any specialty car comes here without a jacked-up price (the Hyundai Genesis Coupe being a nice exception).
The convertible will feature a 312-bhp direct-injection V6 as base model, with a 6.2-liter V8 (426 bhp) on the SS. Six-speed manual shifting is standard, with optional six-speed automatic. The right to purchase one of the first convertibles was auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson for $205,000, for charity.
A special edition of the convertible, with Deep Bordeaux paint and customized interior trim, is also featured in the Neiman-Marcus Christmas catalog, for $75,000.
