With two of America’s muscle cars already officially available on Philippine shores, there’s only one missing—and it’s the one that should be carried by an official subsidiary, not just a distributor. All that may be set right soon, with the rumored upcoming launch of the Ford Mustang in 2011.
We have already skipped a generation of Mustang, having missed the saliva gland-inducing 2004 retromobile. This is just as well, because the revised 2011 model reportedly has a much nicer interior and new drivetrain bits, making it quieter and more fuel efficient. Just think of how much nicer the streets would be if we could spot a Mustang every day. Nay, think how much nicer it would be to wake up every day to seeing one in your garage. (Sorry, Nescafe coffee.)
Dealers are reportedly clamoring to get the sexiest of the Ford lineup in local showrooms. Let’s face it–Ford desperately needs a halo car. As nice as the Fiesta is, it will not be one to attract manly men to the showroom. A well-specced, properly-priced Mustang surely will.
