A man was able to stop a car thief’s attempt to steal his vehicle at a Quezon City mall Wednesday night. Kim Paulo Dimaano spotted his car about to be driven away from the fourth level parking lot of SM North EDSA about 8 pm on Wednesday.
Police arrested Bryan Quinio, who was attempting to drive off with Dimaano’s black Toyota Corolla. Upon his arrest, Quinio, 29, yielded a gaming device and several identification cards belonging to Silveriano Villanueva, another car owner whose vehicle was parked nearby. Several duplicate car keys were also found on Quinio.
Dimaano said that he was walking back to his car when he spotted a man behind the wheel. He promptly asked for help from mall security guards who arrested the car thief, later identified as Quinio.
The incident follows a string of four car thefts over the weekend. It highlights the continued incidents of car break-ins and theft in the city.
