Toyota Motor Philippines sells 7062 units in January, retains lead in PH
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) set a target of 95,000 vehicle sales for 2014, and it is off to a good start with 7062 units sold in January. That represents a 50% increase from its January 2013 sales. TMP says that high demand for the Innova and Vios, which are, appropriately, locally assembled, contributed to the high sales figures. TMP projects a 45% share of the local market.
The Vios continues to hold the top-selling spot in the passenger car market. Meanwhile, the Fortuner, which is already 10 years old, is amazingly still selling well, with 1623 units sold, its highest ever monthly sales.
In a statement, TMP President Mr. Michinobu Sugata stated “I am pleased to announce that TMP started the year strong in terms of sales. Coming from an encouraging performance last month, we are optimistic that demand will continue to be favourable because of positive economic outlook and new model introductions. Just after the successful launch of the All-New Corolla Altis last January, this month, TMP will be launching two new models that are expected to boost our sales even further.”
Those would be the Wigo A-segment hatchback, which will start at below P500,000; and the facelifted Innova MPV.
