Ford Philippines continues to record strong sales, with 1076 units sold in January. This represents a 31 percent increase from January 2013, and is the company’s best January sales performance so far. Ford cited the Ranger, Fiesta, and Explorer as fueling the rapid sales take up for this year.

The company now claims 6.9 percent for the combined figures of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association. This means it has overtaken Honda Cars Philippines, which recorded a 6.8 percent share of the market.

The Ranger is the company’s best seller. It sold 409 units in January, a 130 percent increase from the same month last year. Ranger Wildtrak was recently awarded the 2013-2014 Truck of the Year-Philippines by the Car Awards Group Inc.

Fiesta jumped 47 percent to 245 units, partly due to demand for the EcoBoost 1.0 turbo engine. Ford claims fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent versus a non-turbo 1.6 liter engine. The Everest SUV sold 196 units, as an all-new vehicle based on the new Ford Ranger has already been revealed. The Explorer also sold well with 115 units driving out of showrooms.

Ford expects to continue its growth, with new products on the way. It launched the EcoSport B-segment SUV in January, with deliveries to start in April. The compact SUV’s top variant is priced at P975,000.
