Women on driving and fabulous multitasking

By Jeanette Ipapo-Tuason March 12,2014

Men can have the title of being good drivers; women are good at everything.

In this time and age, women can have it all. They can be mothers, career women, married or single, passionate advocates and world shapers. Women have even become a force to reckon with in previously masculine industries, including Motoring. Hence, the Chicdriven column was born. It was Motoring in women speak. A car is not tested on how many cylinders it has but on how many strollers it can fit; or if its ride is good enough to apply liquid eyeliner while seated in the passenger seat.

Cars have become one of the tools that help chicdrivers achieve their “having it all.”  But this does not mean it is done in perfection, no messed-up hair or broken nails. In fact, Chicdriven means honoring the struggles and effort each and every woman goes through to become what she chooses to be. Tools that make it look effortless.  Having it all need not be perfect, just chic.

In celebration of International Women’s Month, Philippine Daily Inquirer, in cooperation with Zest Asia Inc., organized the Chicdriven Women Empowerment Expo at the Alabang Town Center Atrium on March 28-30, 2014.  This community development event aims to equip women with the different tools, information and skills to help them achieve having it all, the Chicdriven way.

We were inspired by the overwhelming response by readers to the different stories that we thought it would be best to bring together different women and different advocacies to celebrate women empowerment.  Supported by Alabang Town Center, Bridgestone Tires and Toyota Motor Philippines, the expo offers free seminars and workshops on topics such as road safety, auto maintenance, fashion, beauty, parenting, life balance, health and wellness.

Other highlights include Electrolux cooking demo by Chef Bruce Lim and a makeover station by BYS cosmetics. Partners  Standard Insurance, Marie France, Brabantia and Tuason Racing School will offer exciting booth demos and workshops during the expo.

Of course, to make the event effective, we knew we needed to engage the community to be active participants and not just passive spectators. We made each seminar represent an advocacy,  cohosted by a civic organization or groups such as Zonta Club Alabang, Mommy Mundo and the parents’ associations of the different schools in the South.

The Chicdriven Women Empowerment Expo will run from March 28-30, 2014, at the Alabang Town Center Atrium and will be open during mall hours. The event is also supported by Fringe Salon, Fitness First, Melissa and Doug, Ogalala, Safety 1st, Pigeon, Gluta White and HAS Travel.com.  Media Partners are Metro, Working Mom, Chalk, Lifestyle Channel, E! and Motioncars.com.  For the seminar schedule, updates and promos, please like us on Facebook/Chicdriven or e-mail us at jnt @chicdriven.com.
