Chevrolet PH off to big start with huge 70% sales jump

After posting ground-breaking figures last year, Chevrolet Philippines sustained the momentum to post impressive growth in sales for the first two months of 2014: January and February sales figures are up 70 percent with a total of 1,298 unit sales compared to 760 units sold during the same time in 2013.

 

Fresh from its most successful year where it posted a 52-percent growth from 2012 to 2013, Chevrolet unit sales now ranks ninth overall in the Philippine automotive industry. The “Bowtie,” as it has come to be known and loved, has steadily grown to capture a significant share of the local automotive market through innovative products and equally excellent service.

 

“Chevrolet continues to establish itself as a major player in the local automotive industry. Not only are we experiencing record growth in terms of sales, we are also beginning to widen the community of Chevy lovers because of the quality of work that we put into our products and services,” said Albert Arcilla, president and managing director of The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), exclusive local importer and distributor of Chevrolet.

 

The boost in early 2014 sales can be attributed to the success of the Chevrolet Trailblazer and the Chevrolet Colorado in penetrating the local midsize sport utility vehicle (SUV) and compact pickup truck markets. The two models are the first and third among the brand’s best-selling units.

 

The Trailblazer and the Colorado are now equipped with an improved Duramax turbo diesel engine which comes in  2.5- and 2.8-liter variants. Both models feature an upgraded powertrain, with the bigger engine displacement  now able to produce a maximum of 200 HP and 500 Nm of torque. Also holding one of the top rungs of Chevrolet’s best-selling units is the Chevrolet Spin.
