Volkswagen Philippines launched the all-new Beetle at the 2014 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). The event marks the return of the iconic “bug” to Philippine roads. Celebrating the launch was Automobile Central Enterprise Inc. (ACEI) president John Philip Orbeta. The Beetle, decked out in yellow with dark racing stripes, was at the center of a massive Volkswagen pavilion at MIAS, specially designed and built for the show and other regional auto shows.
Two models are available at launch: the Basic 1.2 TSI manual transmission and the Design 1.4 DSG. The Basic model features a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 105ps, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Standard features include 16-inch alloys, halogen headlamps, dual front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, and stability control. The Design is powered by a twincharged 1.4-liter engine generating 160ps and 240Nm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission.
The entire VW range is on display at MIAS, including the Touran, Touareg, Tiguan, Jetta, and Polo Notch.
