Ford to introduce new Focus sedan with 1.0 EcoBoost engine

By Jason K. Ang April 15,2014

Ford is set to launch the new Focus sedan at the New York International Auto Show. The new car will come with the new “Aston Martin” grille first seen on the revamped Fiesta, and will have an option for the 1.0-liter Ecoboost engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Ford promises a more intuitive and upscale interior. The exterior will feature LED lighting for headlamps and taillamps, and a restyled hood and trunk lid. The car will feature a quieter interior thanks to thicker carpets and side window glass, and improved insulation.

The US will see an SE Sport Package variant, with body graphics, paddle shifters with the automatic transmission, revised suspension, and 215/50 HR-17 tires.

Ford Focus retained its title as the world’s best-selling car in 2013, with nearly 1.1 million cars sold worldwide last year, a gain of 8.1 percent. China was a driver in growth, with a 50 percent increase in Focus sales.

The high-performance Focus ST will debut later in the year.
