Paul Walker’s brothers to complete scenes for Fast & Furious 7, set for 2015 release
After the death of actor Paul Walker, the future of the Fast & Furious franchise was put into idle, particularly the partially filmed “Fast & Furious 7”. There was speculation that a CGI-effect version of Paul Walker would be used, but now the movie’s official Facebook page has announced that some scenes will be filmed using Walker’s brothers Caleb and Cody Walker. The movie announced that they will fill “small gaps left in the production,” and that Paul had finished his “dramatic scenes and most of his action.” The production said that “having them on set has made us feel that Paul is with us too.”
Universal Pictures had already delayed the release of “Fast & Furious 7” by almost a year. The studio announced that the “Fast & Furious” sequel will be released in April 2015, instead of July 2014. Shooting on the film was about halfway finished when the 40-year-old Walker died in a car crash outside of Los Angeles.
Co-star Vin Diesel first posted the news on the new release date on Facebook, telling his fans that, “He’d want you to know first.”
The franchise has been one of Universal’s most lucrative, grossing almost $2.4 billion worldwide since 2001. The last film, “Fast & Furious 6,” made $789 million.
