Chevrolet certainly knows how to pick its movie tie-ups. From the indelible association of the Camaro with Bumblebee of “Transformers,” the bowtie brand is now hitching its wagon to the Marvel movie juggernaut. Slated to make an appearance in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is a special black-on-black Corvette Stingray. The Corvette will be guided by the hands of none other than Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow. Captain America, born Steve Rogers, seeks to discover his role in the modern world, while facing a new threat from the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier.

Aside from the Corvette, a whole convoy’s worth of Chevrolet vehicles also featured prominently in the movie. SHIELD boss Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, gets a highly customized and extremely tough Chevrolet Tahoe as his ride. Other vehicles co-starring in their own scenes are the Cruze, Volt, and of course, Impala police cruisers.

Black Widow will be accompanying Steve Rogers on his journey of discovery and redemption. Chevrolet displayed the special Corvette and distributed a limited-edition Captain America comic book at the recent Chicago auto show.

Chevrolet launched the seventh generation of its flagship sports car as a 2014 model. With the most power ever in a standard Corvette, the sports car features a 450-HP, 610-Nm engine. The standard car can accelerate to 96 kph in less than four seconds and achieve more than 1g in cornering grip.  With only two parts carried over from the previous generation, the new Corvette uses an all-new frame structure and chassis. A new 6.2-liter V8 engine uses direct injection, continuously variable valve timing to produce more power and consume less fuel. The interior features real carbon fiber, aluminum and leather. Magnesium is used for the seats for light weight and rigidity. Carbon fiber is also used for the hood and removable roof panel and under body panels. An aluminum space frame provides optimal 50:50 weight distribution.

This Corvette is a special model, indeed, and fit to wear the iconic Stingray badge.

The new Corvette Stingray will be built at GM’s Bowling Green, Kentucky, assembly plant, which underwent a $131-million upgrade, including approximately $52 million for a new body shop to manufacture the aluminum frame in-house for the first time.
