Hyundai is official mobility partner of 23rd World Economic Forum East Asia

May 07,2014

Global auto giant Hyundai is the Philippine government’s vehicle of choice as the country is set to host two historic events that will mark the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean)  region’s drive for a sustainable future—the Asean Finance Ministers’ Investor Seminar (Afmis) on May 20, 2014, and the 23rd World Economic Forum East Asia (WEF-EA) on May 21-23, 2014.

It marks the first time that the Philippines will host the WEF-EA.

Hyundai clearly has the edge for the job ahead, having been the official mobility partner of the 45th Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in April 2012.  A fleet of Hyundai Grand Starex units transported  4,000 delegates, including finance and economic ministers from 67 ADB member-countries.

This time, 11 Hyundai Grand Santa Fe units will be at the service of finance ministers of the 10 member-countries of the Asean for the Afmis, while 52 Grand Starex units have been appointed to transport official WEF-EA  delegates.

Afmis is an annual event that showcases the Asean as an asset class. This year, the Afmis brings together Asean’s finance ministers, investors and partners from the private sector to discuss current Asean economic and social development themes, including energy, infrastructure, tourism, and Asean’s economic and financial stability to further boost the region’s competitiveness, leading up to the Asean Economic Community by 2015.

WEF, an independent international organization composed of representatives from 1,000 of the world’s top corporations, is committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political and academic leaders to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

WEF-EA 2014 will serve as an ideal platform for participants to deliberate crucial regional agendas, including promoting greater inclusion across East Asia, and instill more resilient decision-making in the face of unpredictable economic and natural disruptions.

As host country to two decisive regional events, the Philippines shall highlight its contributions to developing the regional economy, given its emergent reputation as an investors’ destination of choice within the region.

“We are more than thrilled to contribute in our small way to the critical decision-making that will take place as the Philippines takes center stage for WEF-EA 2014,” said Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (Hari) president and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo. “Having the movers and shakers in the global finance and business scene experience up-close the premium features of our two powerhouse vehicles, the Grand Santa Fe and the Grand Starex, is already a remarkable step for the brand. However, what is more brilliant is the fact that as the Philippines tells the world of its amazing growth track, Hyundai will be there to tell its own story of how it shaped the Philippine auto industry. Being the official mobility partner of the Philippine government in hosting Afmis and WEF is indeed a grand opportunity for Hari to highlight the achievements of Hyundai in the country and what it is set to achieve in the future.”
