With the brief respite from summer heat also came traffic jams, as rain showers on Saturday also snarled traffic in major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority reported through its Twitter account that moderate to heavy traffic prevailed on both lanes of C5 and EDSA Saturday.
Traffic was snarled just hours after Pagasa (Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) issued a thunderstorm advisory over Metro Manila, particularly Marikina and North Caloocan.
Traffic also worsened at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) on Saturday after a thunderstorm over Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales and Nueva Ecija.
The incident demonstrates that solutions to the perennial flooding of Metro Manila streets are still badly needed.
