World’s first ‘megacar’ Koenigsegg Agera One:1 to debut at Goodwood

May 20,2014

The supercar maker that can double as a spelling bee entry, Koenigsegg, will debut its latest supercar, the Agera One:1 at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (26-29 June 2014).

The world’s first ‘megacar’ will also make its UK dynamic debut as part of the Michelin Supercar Run at the Festival, making Goodwood the first time two One:1 models have appeared together anywhere in the world.

Koenigsegg’s One:1 is the first homologated production car in the world with one Megawatt of power, with the astonishing bhp to kg kerb weight ratio of 1:1, hence the name and ‘Megacar’ moniker. For comparison, the LaFerrari has 950bhp for its 1255kg, while the McLaren P1 has 903 bhp for its 1450kg curb weight.

The car’s stunning design and breath-taking performance, which includes jet-like 2G cornering capabilities, are supported by bespoke Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres from Michelin. Pilot Sport Cup 2 is a tyre that is homologated for the road but inspired by and designed for ultimate circuit performance based on patented endurance competition technologies – delivering more laps and higher speeds as part of the Michelin Total Performance ethos.

Further specification highlights of the Koenigsegg One:1 include: 610kg down-force at 260kph using advanced active under and over body aerodynamics; 20% lighter carbon chassis and body; fully active aero with independent left and right front flaps and hydraulic dual plane rear wing; 3G and GPS controlled Predictive Active Chassis; 3G connectivity for telemetry, performance, lap times and a dedicated telephone app.

It is anticipated that the One:1 will be the world’s fastest homologated production car, with a simulated top speed of >440kph achieved in testing, and will join an illustrious and unrivaled group of cars (including the Koenigsegg Agera R) to have broken world speed and performance records using Michelin tyres.

The One:1 program, a celebration Agera edition marking 20 years of Koenigsegg, has already been fully pre-sold, prior to its introduction to the market.
